Sisters and Brothers,

For those of you that don’t know me I would like to give you a brief history of where I worked at the Metsite. I first started out in Zinc Casting for about 3 yrs, I then moved upstairs to the Cellhouse for about 3 years and then I transferred to the Concentrator. I was involved with the emergency response team for a couple years which let me see more of the plants and I got to meet a lot of people. This past spring I went down to Port Elgin where I received my first two levels of WSIB training. I am also scheduled to go this fall for level 3, 4 and 5 which will be completed before the new year. Since April, I have been working in the office with Gary Hrytsak one week a month. Gary has passed over a lot of great knowledge and also brought me to an appeal to see how it works. I also had the opportunity to write a written submission and send it in to the Compensation Board for one of the claims, Gary reviewed it and guided me through it and it went really well. Gary and I have had the opportunity to meet some of you in our office to try and help out with WSIB and Benefits issues. We have resolved some issues and have some ongoing in Appeals and to the Tribunal. I will be attending with Gary the Appeals and Tribunals hearings to help me learn more about how the process works so I can help out the membership as best as I can. For the month of September I will be in the office on the 12,13,19,20,26 and 27 if anyone has any questions you can call me at 705-268-4599, you can email me at djanveau@gmail.com or you can stop by. I am looking forward to working with the membership for their WSIB and Benefits issues.

In Solidarity
Don Janveau
