Read the full story »As per the CAW National Constitution, the following election rules apply to all elected positions presently posted.
1. Executive Board members will be elected by simple majority. Board members include President, Vice-president(s), Recording Secretary, Financial Secretary, Trustees, Guide, and Sergeant at Arms.
This means that to be declared the winner all candidates must have received 50% of the eligible votes cast plus one. If this requires run-off elections then they will be scheduled as soon as possible after the initial voting takes place.
Trustees are elected in a somewhat different manner. If there are more than two nominees, the two members who receive the most votes are declared elected.
2. The positions for In-plant Committeepersons and Alternates are filled by the member with the highest number of votes.
If you have any questions about the upcoming elections please do not hesitate to call.
